I think that a small group of very powerful people spent the 3 decades that preceded 9/11 very carefully laying the groundwork to destroy everything this nation ostensibly stands for. And then this group of angry young men, manipulated by others, handed them the chance of the ages to do exactly what they have done.

What it is they say? "Success equals preparation plus opportunity"? That small group of powerful, white, wealthy, American men were prepared and they seized that opportunity with both hands and squeezed every last drop of venom out of it to nourish their dirty work. They have been successful, probably even beyond their own wildest dreams.

I feel little but despair about the future these days--so I have been avoiding all the hype.

But I wanted to say that your honesty and openness about your initial response is one of the most amazing things I've read lately. I admire you immensely for writing it and sharing it with us. "Thank you" seems kind of inadequate for what I wanted to say, but it will have to do....

Pax,
DoxyWormwood's Doxyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10882756844690851674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2343439372519556254.post-5505144511010015192011-09-02T04:14:15.689-04:002011-09-02T04:14:15.689-04:00I wasn't made aware of the 9/11 attacks, until...I wasn't made aware of the 9/11 attacks, until just shortly before the 2nd Tower fell (West Coast, on vacation, night owl. Still can't believe no one woke me earlier!)

I'm just waking up (my BFF's husband said "Look: the world is going INSANE!"), and trying to make sense of what I'm seeing (the burning North Tower).

I know it was CNN. The anchor was Aaron Brown (whom I really liked, and still miss). They know what I don't: that since the South Tower has already fallen, it's guaranteed the North Tower will, too. Hence, he had less shock, than deep grief, as the North Tower collapsed. Brown: "There Are No Words."

So as I looked at this soundless video, I still heard Brown (in my head) say "There Are No Words."

There still aren't.JCFnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2343439372519556254.post-72451607146622771692011-09-01T20:32:55.069-04:002011-09-01T20:32:55.069-04:00Lord, have mercy.
