Oh Counterlight. I am sitting here and reading and not sure what to say, and saying nothing.
Then I got to this...
As little children. Being hurt, wounded, denied, decried, abused in many ways.
It is not far from the story of my own childhood. I often wonder why I turned out as I did? A combination of grace and choice I believe, but I see the pedantic assholery within my soul every day.
Who hurt them? And must they continue to hurt others so?
Fran, I don't think so. You and I were both hurt, and we don't make it our life's work to hurt others. I'm not saying that I never hurt anyone, but, God knows, I try not to.
I agree w/ Fran. I think the loudest, most verbally and spiritually (if not physically, too) violent Wingnut bloviators got the cr*p beaten out of them, as kids (or perhaps, less obvious psychological tortures).
To say that NOT all abused children grow up to be abusers, isn't to deny that all abusers were themselves abused (Yes, it's a mystery, that the two sets aren't co-terminous. God's grace moves in mysterious ways---perhaps the Wingnuts are headed to even more dramatic repentance? We can only hope and pray---while staying focused on our own need for repentance, of course!)

I stand by my comments. I expect you to do likewise.
yes. they always made a big deal about interpreting and following the rules when we were playing children's games.

Probably what Margaret said.
