Here he is, the man of the moment, Levi Johnston, the happy soon-to-be-father and soon to be son-in-law of a political family, the family of Veep candidate Sarah Palin. Even though the press is going ape with his Facebook comments full of teenage bravado, I feel sorry for the poor shlub, and for the poor girl who has to marry him in front of a convention hall full of people that no one would want to see on a jury if they were on trial for their lives, and in front of the world press.
Dude, there are times when it pays to keep your pants on.

I wrote a lively commentary on the "Bristol Affair" yesterday at my blog..."Arkansas Hillbilly" was apparently circling the area and immediately "commented" that we best leave the "intended" couple alone as we are "better" than Republicans. I'm not certain I'm "better" than any other meanspirited observer/tiny participant when view this Presidential election because I discovered I fully RESENT the Holy-rolling fundamentalist views on me and people like me as they give their OWN and THEIR destructive behavior a "pass"...I think they can take their "anti-gay health lecture" and cram it forever and e ever...afterall, it is clear that "unsafe" is reflected in the personal behavior of a teenage member of the Alaskan "first" family...unsafe albeit heterosexual.

The whole mess, the messmakers and the "reshapers" of reality are plain twisted and unfortunately arrogant purveyors of sick/spin!
I'm with Counterlight; these poor kids are being completely used for her mom's political career. I believe the narrative the campaign has cooked up will pass Repiggie scrutiny; I doubt many swing voters will be be captivated. Otherwise, I'm moving to a more civilized planet.

ReplyDeleteWell that describes my life, and the lives of all gay men everywhere on the planet with uncanny scientific accuracy. There's nothing like generalizing from the particular and having a statistician provide the data in order to feel oh so wonderfully superior.

How many straight teenagers are having reckless sex? How many college students are drinking to excess? The fact is that there is a subculture of stupid behavior that has nothing to do with sexuality.
