Sounds of Spring

A mockingbird

Spring peepers

Today, it is overcast with occasional snow flurries in New York.

  1. The birds woke me up this morning, doing their noisy thang right outside my window--it was wonderful!

And we are cool, but no snow today. Thank goodness!

Happy Spring to you and your lover!

  2. I went for a hike yesterday, and (recall I live in Michigan) heard the season's first peepers!

My crocuses are blooming, too. :-) Daffodils, and then tulips . . . if I can keep the damn deer away from the latter this time (ate ALL of them last spring---argh! >:-0)

(I have always wondered what mockingbird was... They sing beautifully!)

  4. You're all way ahead of us in NYC.
The bulbs are just starting to come up. The trees haven't even started to bud yet. The weather is still chilly, though not as bad as it was.

I am now hearing robins and mockingbirds sing.
Amazingly, this is a great place to bird watch. Apparently, New York sits right in the middle of a major migration flyway. Where I work up in the Bronx, there is a resident red tail hawk, I've seen owls, chickadees, kinglets, goldfinches, thrashers, finches, song sparrows, etc.
