Prediction

The Baucus plan looks like the one that will be passed. There will be no public option. There will be a legal requirement to buy into the current system with only a token tax credit for low income people for whom this will be a huge new expense.

It will effectively be no reform at all; and a big bonanza for the Insurance industry for the price of minimal regulatory reform.

This will be very unpopular, the worst of both worlds of private and public sectors. The backlash will be big when the bills start coming in for under and unemployed people.

The Democrats will lose the Congress in 2010.

If this is what the final bill looks like, then I will oppose it.
