A Counterlight Christmas Tradition: The Pogues

  1. So, I clicked thru and found the documentary about it. I had never heard the song or of The Pogues, so thanks for putting it up. It adds to my Irishness. My Dad's grandfather came over with his parents when he was a kid, before the Civil War and was a drummer boy in the Union Army.

  2. Michael's grandmother is from a small farm outside of Galway that still belongs to her family.

I'm afraid that I'm as Irish as Clemenceau and Bismark. Most of my ancestors were ne'er-do-wells from the Continent.

It's remarkable that this song is now more than 20 years old. And how sad that Kirsty McColl has been dead now so long.
