Senator Stuart Smalley Calls the Republican Bluff

Republican Senators Coburn and Vitter sponsored a rotten eggs amendment requiring Senators and Representatives to enroll in the public option if it passes.

A number of progressive Democrats took up the dare and volunteered to co-sponsor the bill. However, none of them could get through to Senator Coburn's office, and the Senator did not return their calls.

But you don't need to go through a staff on the Senate floor. Senator Al Franken asks for a unanimous resolution from the Senate making him a co-sponsor of the bill:

Senators Dodd and Mikulski signed on too.

It turns out the rotten eggs were eggs benedict.
