Question for the Day

When did Christianity change from "Love thy neighbor as thyself" to "The hell with thy neighbor, he had it coming?"

I must have missed that memo.

  1. About the same time as it changed from Jesus being the Savior of the World into Jesus being "my personal Savior".

  2. To Hell with the neighbor (period)...fearing, hating and loathing thy neighbor has nothing to do with "justice" or we wouldn't have Justices Thomas, Scalia and Thomas on the Supreme Court...damning ones neighbor is all PREJUDICE, snobbery, jealousy and basic fear/hatedriven scorn!

  3. The same time it changed to, "no one that is of a different faith background is saved like we are!" In other words we're the only special ones.

  4. 800AD. When they invented the list on how to pay for one's sins (penance). And right along with the changes in the funeral rite --from confidence in the Resurrection to begging for mercy. And saying it TO Jesus instead of in his name.

  5. Haven't heard of an exact date but suspect that Margaret has a point. The Carolingian so called "Renaissance" (being Heathen Neo Platonism).
