If the Meaning of Scripture is so Clear and Plain ...



... then why did all of those generations of rabbis go to all the trouble of writing the Talmud?

... then why did the early Church Fathers (pre and post Nicene Council) spend so much time and energy writing and arguing?

... then why do those congregations that insist upon the Plain Meaning of Scripture spend so much timing splitting, fracturing into smaller groups, and anathematizing each other?
