Stop acting like unreasonable bigots.
Not getting your way in every policy debate and not having everyone else defer to your beliefs is not oppression.
Getting fired from your job, getting evicted from your home, getting constantly harassed and threatened, getting declared deviate and criminal, getting the shit beaten out of you, or getting killed just for being yourself, now THAT'S oppression.
EXTRA:
This I think is an appropriate response. The video features Bishop Gene Robinson, along with a couple of my fellow parishoners who I recognize at Rockefeller Center, holding MSNBC accountable for its inexplicable deference to Tony Perkins.
According to the logic of these networks, every time they have a Jew on, they should put on a Nazi for "balance." If Al Sharpton has a show, why not David Duke?
WOW! Again I can not agree more!
ReplyDeleteYou'd think they could learn that!
ReplyDeleteAlong those lines---
ReplyDeleteRe Mormons baptizing the dead (inc. Jewish Holocaust victims).
I'm w/ the Mormons on this one (despite the fact that I think their practice is BULLSH*T and reprehensible!).
Do Mormons think that Judaism is a bogus religion that won't save? Yes. Do Mormons think that Episcopal Christianity is a bogus religion that won't save? Yes. * Am I offended by their beliefs? Yes...but they're going to believe that whether I'm offended or not. And they're going believe that whether they actually baptize the dead or not.
We don't have a right to not be offended. Y'know, in the same way we have a right NOT to be gay-bashed! Or---speaking of Jews---a right to NOT be victims of a pogrom.
* Do I think that Mormonism is a bogus religion, that won't save? Yes...I just believe EVERYONE will be saved ANYWAY! 0;-/
We don't have a right to not be offended, but we do have a right to take offense.
ReplyDeleteWhen people throw shit at us, we should pick it up and throw it right back at them, not run crying to Matron.
Or, when people pick a fight with us, we're not obliged to hit back. But we are obliged to stand our ground.
