The Titanic

The Titanic leaving Southampton on her maiden voyage

The Titanic went down after striking an iceberg in the north Atlantic one hundred years ago on April 15th in one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in history. The disaster cost the lives of 1,514 people. They died because of recklessness, cost-cutting, and greed.

Graves of 150 of the recovered victims from the Titanic in Fairview Cemetery in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Michael and I visited these graves on our one and only trip to Halifax. The burials were all paid for by White Star Lines.
