  1. Very nice find. We grew up with Sousa marches on the old 78rpm breakable recordings.

  2. I LOVE Sousa marches. We used to play them in high school marching band. Fun to play and fun to listen to.

  3. I love them, too, Counterlight. My daughter's high school band played Sousa. I expect all marching bands do.

My father would play them on the old Victrola and line us up and have us march.

  4. WOW! Who knew?? It's a delightful march, and the perfect cap to an exciting day in which I got to witness the transit of Venus. It was discouragingly cloudy all day in Baltimore but the skies finally cleared after 5 pm, so I walked over to the observatory at Johns Hopkins and was able to see the wonderful image via several different types of apparatus. People had brought their portable telescopes and all sorts of improvised pinhole cameras which they were happy to share. It was a glorious sight, the more so because of its rarity.
