Blogger is Not Cooperating

I don't know if there's anyone out there who blogs, but I've lately been having a problem. For 3 years, I've copied and pasted Word text onto Blogger with no difficulties. Now, I'm trying to paste a text, and all the spacing and paragraph indents and margins are totally lost or messed up when Blogger publishes it. The text I'm trying to copy is no longer than other texts I've copied and pasted onto Blogger for the last 3 years with no trouble. I'm hoping I can find a way to copy and paste an extensive text without having to type it all over again into Blogger.

  1. I have never been able to copy and paste from Word into Blogger without problems. Word is filled with unseen markings and mark-ups that become visible if you switch to HTML view. What would happen if you copied and pasted your text first into an another program like Google Drive or even a text editor? That program might clean the text so that the pasting into Blogger would come out clean. Good luck.

  2. I usually paste the text from Word as html, then switch to “compose” to add any formatting. There are also some mysterious buttons under “options” when you’re creating the post that may help. I’ve never played with them, but you might try switching the “compose mode” or “line breaks.”

Blogger recently eliminated its good old interface, making it a lot harder to use with my monitor, which keeps hiding part of the screen on the right. Your problems are probably part of that “upgrade.” Argh!

  3. Kitt, that's what I ultimately did, just copied the whole thing in html and re-formatted the whole thing under "compose"; what a lot of extra work!

The results can be seen in the post just prior to this one.

  5. hmmmm.... I've never had any problems composing directly in Blogger... switching between 'compose' and html as needed for posting video or images or whatever...

Why do you compose and then paste? just wondering.

  6. Margaret,

my longer posts are composed (and revised) over a long period of time, days and sometimes weeks. It's usually easier for me to work them out as Word documents first.

  8. Doug --compose and save 'em as drafts unpublished in blogger? That's do-able too.... I've got some drafts I've never published....

  9. One reason that I use Word instead of Blogger for composing the original text is that it is easier to accidentally delete everything on Blogger, and the “undo” command doesn’t always save the day. Watch out for that. Also Word has many great features such as keyboard shortcuts that don’t work in Blogger. Sometimes I think about switching to Wordpress. I hear it is superior in many ways.

  10. Off Topic, but an outrage. If a Democrat tried this, there'd be riots.
