I Love Fred Phelps!



I've said it before, I'll say it again, I love Fred Phelps!

He's the best thing ever to happen to the cause of gay lib.  He does so much for us just be being his own repulsive reptilian self.  Our enemies are stuck with him like burrs on a shaggy dog.  No matter how hard they try to distance themselves from him, when they look at him they see themselves as through a mirror very darkly.  Fred and his crew take all of their carefully reasoned and expensively packaged arguments as to why gays and lesbians are less than everyone else and smears shit all over them.

Now, he and his little inbred tribe are going to picket the funeral of Sgt. Donna Johnson, a lesbian soldier killed in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber.

Compare contrast Phelps and the deceased.  One volunteered to serve a country that didn't fully embrace her, and gave her life on behalf of her fellow citizens.  The other pursues an obsessive hatred all the way into desecration and sedition, and perhaps someday into high treason if he ever gets a phone call from his kindred spirits in the Taliban.

So who would you rather have as neighbors and fellow citizens, people like the late Sgt. Donna Johnson who died a hero, or a pack of toxic crazies demanding that everyone die except them?

Thanks Fred for making the choice so easy.

UPDATE:

There was an incident at Sgt. Donna Johnson's funeral. Apparently, some of her comrades did not take too kindly to the Phelps clan stomping on the flag, and decided to act. From the blog Guardian of Valor: 

So at the funeral today for Fallen Soldier Sgt. Johnson a Westboro member decided it would be smart to stomp on the American flag. A Soldier did not take kindly to that and broke through the line, hitting one of the protesters that was disgracing Old Glory. As he was being arrested, two other Soldiers rescued the flag. The first video was filmed bu a friend of mine, the person you see jumping around with the flag is also a buddy. The second video was made by another person there to protect the funeral it is a little clearer. The person you see jumping around right before the Soldier runs in and clocks the member is a friend of mine. The Soldier was not charged and later released.

    Our friends from Connecticut, who visited us recently, told us of a group who made and wore large angel wings and shielded the family and friends attending the funeral service of a member of the military from the Phelps gang.

  3. Yu seem to say you think people can't distance themsleves from The hate this group expresses, but you would I am sure, deny they represent Christianity! Which is what I see when I see them!
    Also, most people against Phelps are angry at his attack on America and soldiers and do not support Gay rights in ANY way! Just look at almost all the comments on any posts about this group online. They all hate him for his being so men to soldiers and America, very few if any EVER say anything about his attacking gays! Most of those who are appauled at how he treats soldiers and their families have no issue with his hatered of gays!

  6. Tristan, you're barking up the wrong tree, if you think Counterlight objects to anything critical of Christianity. If you read his blog regularly you will see that he and many of us are rather quick to point out the flaws in the practice of Christianity. But you already know that. I expect you just want to be annoying.

  7. Tristan, saying all Christians and Christianity are like Fred Phelps is like saying that all gay men are like John Wayne Gacy.

    Fred Phelps is the real nature of Christianity in the same way that John Wayne Gacy is the real nature of same sexuality.

  8. I never said all Christians are the same as Phelps, and that is not what I was implying ether! I was simply trying to point out that most who act and speak against the Phelps crew are NOT defending gay in any way! They are defending soldiers and America and may actually agree with Phelps on some points!

  10. I'm pretty sure that all those vets at Sgt. Donna Johnson's funeral knew she was lesbian and either accepted her or didn't care.
    I'm sure most of them consider themselves to be red-meat conservatives.
    Perhaps Sgt. Johnson did herself.

    And yet, Fred Phelps helped to make the choice clear between their own fallen comrade and a pack of crazed hyenas.
