Selma 50 Years Ago

I have nothing to add to any of this.

EXTRA:

I agree with James Fallows that Obama's speech at Selma was outstanding, and will be quoted and remembered for a long time to come, eventually by people from both parties.

  1. I don't have any at-the-time memories of Selma (I was 2), only post-facto memories like your clip from "Eyes on the Prize". But in comparing those memories to scenes of the bridge yesterday, did you (like me) have that usual "I'm Getting Old" reaction of "Geez, the Edmund Pettus Bridge is a lot SMALLER than I remember!" O_o

Thought Obama's speech was excellent, though his best speech as President, IMO, was still his 2nd Inaugural (Though I expect bits of both will end up on his I-probably-won't-live-to-see monument ;-/)

  2. I was only 7 at the time, and I have no memories of this either.

I have a feeling that we will miss Obama after 2017.

  3. Well, you said it all in your painting "Jesus Enters the City," which has an uncanny resemblance to news photos of the Selma 50th-anniversary march with Obama.

  4. Hey, Doug, Wazzup? MadPriest said you were getting death threats due to Gay Jesus? :-0

Let us know how you are. Love & Prayers!
