Rothko's Studio

While making a medical appointment on the Upper East Side today, I passed by and took a photo of Mark Rothko's old studio on East 69th Street.

Rothko worked in this studio from 1964 until his death in 1970.

It was originally an old carriage house and stable.

This was Rothko's last studio where he painted the Houston chapel murals, and where he died by suicide in 1970.
