Arthur Penn 1922 - 2010

The director of The Miracle Worker and Bonnie and Clyde dies at age 88.

He also directed this movie, which though panned by the critics, remains a longtime favorite of mine:

  1. One of my favorites, too. Does that make us blood kin? "A world without human beings makes my heart sad.". . . . "Am I still in this world?. . . I was afraid of that. Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn't."
Within 6 minutes he makes one's heart break and then heal again as he makes us laugh! This is my favorite scene. . .

    Rest in peace Mr. Penn.

  2. Watching this "revisionist Western" for the first time was a liberating experience for this son of Texas.
