ReplyDeleteHe never struck me as entirely straight either, but I wonder if it's because there was really something there, or just wishful thinking on my part.

He was born Bernard Schwartzman in the Bronx. He was the son of very poor Hungarian Jewish immigrants, and he apparently had a very tough childhood.
