The First Openly Lesbian Bishop in the Episcopal Church

The Diocese of Los Angeles elected 2 new suffragan bishops today, one of whom, Mary Douglas Glasspool, is an open and partnered lesbian.
As usual, the most complete coverage can be found at Thinking Anglicans.
Despite 6 years worth of appeals for institutional preservation, the Diocese of Los Angeles, the Episcopal Church, History, or Somebody had other ideas.
The consent process will be very interesting, I'm sure.

In the meantime, Congratulations Bishop Glasspool and to the Diocese of Los Angeles!

The sanctuary light burns a little brighter tonight.

In the midst of the Sturm und Drang that shall inevitably follow this election, her qualifications and her experience with the diocese will be lost in the din. Ironically, she may be religiously a little more conservative than many of her critics (as is +Gene Robinson).

  1. I wish not agree on it. I regard as polite post. Particularly the title attracted me to be familiar with the whole story.
