Let's Remember Pearl Harbor
I remember especially today my older cousin James Cory, who was a Marine private stationed on the USS Arizona that Sunday morning. He was one of the few who survived.
If you go to pearl Harbor, the arizona still weeps oil and bubbles . A launch ferries you to that memorial, run by a firm-chinned child in dress whites. And you think of the other children in dress who died on that ship. And you are thankful for brave children, and you glare at politicians today who sacrifice them for so, so little.
That picture is so moving and in many ways beautiful. My uncle was on his way to serve on a ship there in the Harbor when it was hit by the Japanese bombs. He ended up on the Wasp for a time...until it was sunk. Thanks be to God, he survived to return home.

I stand by my comments. I expect you to do likewise.
And Tom Waits is 60 today. Time does fly.
