The Japanese Earthquake A Year Ago Today

After a year, this footage remains astonishing and shocking:

Authorities estimate that almost 16,000 people died in the earthquake and tsunami, and over 3000 people remain missing, a major catastrophe by any reckoning.

This disaster was followed by the worst nuclear plant failure since Chernobyl.

Sariputra, form is emptiness, emptiness form . . . no ignorance and suffering, no end to ignorance and suffering.

Words as hard and baffling as any of Jesus', yet strangely as comforting.
