The Healthcare Debate

Take a good look at what the healthcare debate had devolved into.

Go on, take a look at it.

And so good Christian friends, are you proud of this?

As I say, if this crap wins the day and some hollowed out bill with nothing but legal mandates to buy into the current system together with "co-ops" (anyone remember that Blue Cross Blue Shield started out as a coop? How did that work out? Anyone else out there lose their prescription benefits because of them?), then the Obama icon comes down and I will oppose the bill. A bad bill like that would be a legally mandated bonanza for the insurance industry and worse than no bill at all.

Thought for the Day:

Monopolistic corporate paternalism is post modern feudalism.

UPDATE:

On Rachel Maddow's show last night, it appears that Progressives have their constituents too. Instead of creating tee vee friendly freak shows, they seem to be writing letters, making calls, and visiting their representatives insisting on holding the line on the public option. The Congressional Progressives are doing just that, and now the White House is insisting that "nothing has changed" and that the public option is still a fundamental part of the bill.

Counterlight, I wrote this in my own comments in response to the comments of others there, and I promise you that I didn't steal from you. Great minds....

Right at this point, I'd rather see no bill than a crap bill. If a crap bill passes through Congress and is signed into law, the president and Congress may be lulled into thinking that they have actually done something for the citizens of the country who need help so badly.

Quick! Someone tell Obama about the bully pulpit!

I think you're being a little rough on feudalism.

After having studied my late papa's family history for the last 2 years, I would say Dough isn't at all rough on feudalism.

About the update (also parenthetically, the activism Jane Hamsher at Fire Dog Lake blog is promoting).
Don´t confuse current efforts and the final product with any kind of reasonable and affordable health care. Won't be happening. Too much money being made, and still too many crooked pols.
