"Art is a lie that tells the truth" -- Pablo Picasso
A gentleman on one of my mailing lists wrote: "The choir of angels just got a little better tonight." She was a great lady, and a remarkable woman.
One of my late mother's great idols!
I was so surprised to hear how old she was at her death, 92. I always thought of her as young and beautiful or mature and fascinating, but never old.Thank God for 150 years of recording technology.
She was a strong woman when it wasn't fashionable, and a great singer and entertainer. I loved her voice and who she was - she truly will be missed by so many of us.
I'm please as punch to say, "I saw---and HEARD---her live!" :-D(At Sacramento's "Music Circus", summertime theater/performance-in-the-round, c. 1979. Saw her w/ my mom. Miss 'em both.)RIP/RIG, you gorgeous woman, you!
I should add, this was in the era when she was closing her show w/ (Kermit the Frog's) "It's Not Easy Being Green."Brought the Effing House (tent) Down!!!
