Secular Apocalypses

Karl Marx and Ayn Rand shared the same apocalyptic vision of the "withering away" of the state.

In both cases, a bigger stronger state is required to make the vision happen and to protect it from its enemies.

I've often found such people countering me by saying that reproductive rights were not individual because they affected the society as a whole.

I find it generally silences them to suggest that society as whole should be allowed, then, to vote on who may get pregnant, carry the pregnancy to term or keep their child - after all, it is a public concern.; February 17, 2011 at 12:09 AM
