Big D

Off to Dallas tomorrow for a few days to visit Ma. I'll be back Monday.

August in Texas, where the heat is so intense it warps railroad tracks. I probably won't be getting out to do much touring.

An old postcard from the 1936 Texas Centennial Exhibition in Dallas. This building still stands.

And here's Jo Stafford in 1956 going into raptures over Big D, "little a double l a s! And that spells Dallas, where every home's a palace 'cause the settlers wouldn't settle for no less!"
