Saint Paul's Backs Off

The Chapter of St. Paul's Cathedral in London suspends its legal action against the protesters. It took awhile and about 3 resignations for common sense and decency to finally prevail.

My favorite comment so far about the whole near-disaster:

"One does have to wonder if the collapse at St pauls is now completely swamping the issues raised by the campers." (Martin Reynolds)

Yes, and, at the same time, the St. Paul's debacle is one and the same with the issues raised by the campers. At the core, the issue is the challenge to the undeserved privilege of entrenched power.

Counterlight said...: I can't speak for the C of E, but here, bishops and deans are accountable to God and to the General Convention, and to their diocesan conventions. Only God has absolute authority. Everyone else is subject to legislative review.; November 1, 2011 at 1:49 PM
