Christendom in a Nutshell

Take a look at this, good Christian friends, an ecclesiastical brawl in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

I know I'm being naughty when I say it, but I think this is hilarious! (And all over trying to get a body back in the tomb. ROFL)

I think the title should be "Christendom in a Nuthouse."

My Israeli friends assure me that this happens all the time in that Church. The only difference this time is the size of the brawl.

Significantly, the custodian of the Church, the only one whom all the sects will trust with the keys, is a Muslim, and has been a Muslim for the last 300 years.
The Muslim custodians of the Church lead the Good Friday procession along the Via Dolorosa every year.

And yes, it's hysterically funny.

I feel sorry for the Israeli soldiers forced to play referee in this liturgical prize fight.

Well, there ya go then. Jews and Muslims keeping the christians in order. How much more poetic can it get?

:)

I guess my only question in this context is why do they bother?

I suppose the answer is political, that nothing has changed, and that (paradoxically) everything must change.

(Sorry if that's a bit obtuse. You've caught me in the middle of my own little revolution, and I'm not quite sure where it's going yet.)

He is also a guide. When my partner and I visited the Church, he showed us around.
